The musicians making up the Bell'arte Salzburg ensemble share a special interest in
the magnificent music composed in the centres of music in Germany and Austria during
the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. Since its formation in 1995, the ensemble has
acquired an outstanding reputation, partly for its convincing interpretation of its
concert programmes. Expressive intensity and lively, colourful playing characterize the
musicians of the ensemble, all of whom are specialists in the field of historical performance
practice.
The ensemble's extensive chamber music repertoire demands various different formations,
augmented as required for concerts with well-known singers. Bell'arte Salzburg has for
many years collaborated with singers like Emma Kirkby, Susanne Rydén, Nuria Rial, Monika
Mauch, Jan Kobow, Wolf Matthias Friedrich and Gotthold Schwarz. Artistic direction is
in the hands of the violinist Annegret Siedel.
Bell'arte Salzburg has performed at the Rheingau Music Festival, the Early Music Days in Stuttgart,
the Irsee Klang & Raum Festival, the Köthen Bach Festival, the Heinrich Schütz Festival in Dresden,
the European Weeks in Passau, the Tonicale in Munich and other renowned music festivals.
The ensemble's concert programmes are presented in concert series like "Das Alte Werk" of NDR Hamburg,
the Bach Concerts in the Frankfurt Alte Oper, the Brühl Palace Concerts, the Wartburg Concerts in Eisenach,
the Gallery Concerts at the Dresden Zwinger, the Köthen Autumn Festival and the Summer Festival between Inn
and Salzach, many of them broadcast live on radio or television.
The ensemble has undertaken concert tours
in Germany, Austria, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Great Britain and Switzerland.
